Approximately 7 miles to the south is Lydford Gorge an impressive valley naturally
carved into the hard Dartmoor rock, well worth a visit at any time of the year.
About 32 miles NW is the coastal area of Bude & Widemouth Bay, an excellent place for beach
lovers and surfers alike.

Castle Drogo | Paignton Zoo | Lydford Gorge | Buckland Abbey
Travel 18 miles south on the A 386 and you will pass through the picturesque market town of
Tavistock. Follow the road on to Yelverton then branch left on the B3212 for about 6 miles
and you arrive at Princetown, home of Dartmoor Prison, a
dark grey unforgiving captivity. A reminder for all of us to stay on the right side of the
law.
Drive acoss Dartmoor on the A386, passing all the beauty spots with strange sounding names and
arrive at Plymouth, take the family on a boat trip around Devonport Dockyard and see the Navy
ships in dock.

Morwellham Quay
For a real change follow the A38 towards Exeter and head for Trago Mills for a days enjoyment
for the kids and a spot of shopping for mum, (well dad had his fun at Devonport looking at the
ships!).
Other nearby attractions include Buckland Abbey, Castle Drogo, Paignton Zoo, Morwellham Quay, the
adjacent cycle track, Dartmoor trails and many Golfing and Fishing locations.
However long you decide to stay there is always something to see and do in and around Devon
and Cornwall. If you don't fancy seeing or doing anything put your feet up and relax,
remember you are on holiday and you've earned it!
